We can confirm that club captain Aaron Simms has today announced that he will be leaving the Reds after 3 years for a new challenge.
Aaron came to us at the start of the 2021/22 season and so nearly made it to 100 appearances for the Reds, as he leaves us after making 99 appearances and scoring 3 goals, where he soon became a fan’s favourite with performances that have made him into one of the best central defenders at our step of football, if not higher!!
We managed to get a quote from gaffer Adam Shillcock:
“What a player and a presence we will obviously miss on the football pitch. I have been on record numerous times in saying how I believe he is the best centre half this league has and he should easily be playing a step or two higher. We have been lucky to retain his services this long with the offers that have come in for him these past few years.
Naturally things change in football and Aaron has decided now was the time for change. He leaves with our best wishes and fond memories of a truly exceptional talent to pull on the Alport shirt”
Although we’re gutted at the decision we truly wish Ez the best, your work rate week in, week out and how you’ve grown as a player and more importantly, a person, and we thank you for the time you’ve been at the club.
We can also confirm that both Macauley Taylor and Ryan Allcock have also left the club. We thank them both for their efforts
